The folks at Iron Realms have FREE, text-based MMO games. They have four Realms to choose from. This one will hit home to me:
3. Why should I play your games instead of World of Warcraft or Everquest II?
If you've played any of the big MMOs, you know that they are about one thing and one thing only, fundamentally: killing monsters. That's pretty much it. Yes, many of them add on things like realm vs. realm combat and crafting, or a limited PvP endgame, but there just isn't much of a world there.
Our games are different. They have player-run city-states that can do everything (depending on the game) from develop subdivisions for player housing to go to war with each other to set property tax rates on player shops within the city's territory. You'll find all sorts of systems that you simply aren't going to find in a game like Warcraft – player-run libraries, the ability to become a bookie, tons of GM-run roleplaying events, active and meaningful religions with GM-run Gods. Sure, our games have monster bashing, but it's just one of many, many things to do.
In short, what you'll find is that you're trading eye-candy for depth and breadth of content when you switch from a World of Warcraft to a world of the Iron Realms.

Jacob really does love his little sister, Madison.
Former UA Standout, Lance Cormier, was reactivated by the Braves on May 18th, ironically against the team that traded him to the Braves, the Arizona Diamondbacks. He saw action in the game on Saturday night. He pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up 3 hits and 6 earned runs. That was more runs that he had given up all year to that point.
Also on Saturday, former UA Outfielder, Andy Phillips had the game winning hit for the New Your Yankees in their subway series versus the Mets. The Yankees appeared to be down and out to the Mets until the late innings and a blown save be Billy Wagner.
This weekend saw a lot of first for our family:
Our little girl, Madison, slept through the night for the first time. She slept from 9:30pm until almost 5:30am. We were so excited. On Sunday, she slept until 4:00am, which is still a good long sleep. This morning was not as good as she awoke at 2am and 4am. Hopefully, we can get her sleeping through most of the night before Julie comes back to work next Tuesday. We were spoiled in that our son slept through the night every night at about 7 weeks.
We also relocated my in-laws to Tuscaloosa county this weekend. They sold their house of 33 years in Russellville Alabama so that they could be closer to the grandkids. It is the house that Julie grew up in and she was understandably sad at them leaving. Julie's mother will be keeping little Madison starting next week for us. I have been part of their family for over 15 years and I never thought that they would ever ever leave "their side of the mountain." I guess the power of grandkids truely is strong. My mother relocated to Northport a little over a year ago, and now lives in our neighborhood. I know that the all are excited to be a greater part of Jacob and Madison's lives, as Julie and I are.
I just watched one of those Support the Troop things that a friend sent to me and it got me thinking. I cannot imagine having to leave my kids for an undetermined amount of time and not knowing if I would even come back. Especially for those men who miss the birth of their children. I would not give up the time spent teaching my little boy how to play baseball for ANYTHING!
I am glad that there are those who are taking up the mantle of freedom so that I can do just that. Thank you.
I am hopefully going to get the blog going so that our family and friends can keep up with what is going on in our lives. I have set up a Flickr account so that I can start uploading pictures of the kids and us.
It will hopefully be a place where I can send updates about our family (in Alabama) to our family around the world.
Our best friends, Greg and Tesney Davis, are the parents of a beautiful new baby boy. They brought him home last Monday. We are so excited for them, and we look forward to watch their Clayton and our Madison grow up together.

It allows you to blog from within Firefox, which is what I am doing right now. It will pull categories and you can setup multiple blogs with the extension.
Lance Cormier, UA Pitcher from 1999-2002, was placed on the DL yesterday by the Atlanta Braves. It appears that he suffered a strained oblique muscle in a game last week against the New Your Mets. He has been Bobby Cox's most stable arm out of a shaky bullpen.
Oh, man! I am jacked up about this coming out. I am a huge comic books movie fan (I have not seen Fantastic Four or Daredevil). The new trailer is up at Apple's Trailer site.
The story takes place after the original movies, so it is not a retelling, but a whole new story.
This is my blog. I will talk about anything and everything.
My other blog is Black Belt Productivity, and is focused on Getting Things Done, The Art of Stress-Free Productivity. It is a collaborative effort with my friend, Jason Echols. We both are practicing GTD'ers.
I will go into my other interests in other posts.
